Sanding machine stripped down during a retrofitting project

Retrofitting

Your sanding machine, performing like new

Complete mechanical overhaul, rebuilt electrical system, updated controls and safety devices. A machine your operators already know, with the performance and reliability of a new one.

The core idea

The value of a sanding machine lies in its structure

Well-built sanding machines have a value that time barely touches: the solidity of their bed and load-bearing structure. Robust structures, dimensioned and built to last, as was often the case with machines of the past.

What really ages are the wear components, the electrical system, the control electronics and the safety devices. And this is exactly where our retrofitting comes in.

The work can be complete or targeted only at the parts that really need it: from the overhaul of individual units to the replacement of the electrical system and control systems, through to a complete rebuild of the machine.

With a complete retrofit, the result is a sanding machine that is once again like a new machine, while keeping what is still one of its greatest strengths today: a solid, proven mechanical structure.

It is where the robust construction of the past meets today's technology, for a considerably smaller investment than buying a new machine.

The retrofit is therefore defined around the machine and your needs, renewing what is necessary and preserving what still has value.

What it covers

A complete rebuild, not a touch-up

Mechanical overhaul

Replacement of bearings, housings, drive components and worn parts; restoration of alignment, parallelism and flatness.

Sanding units

Overhaul of the units, recovering and grinding of rollers, restoration of pads and oscillation systems.

Electrical system and safety

Rewiring, electrical panel, replacement of inverters and control boards that are obsolete or no longer available. Inspection and updating of safety devices.

Controls

Upgrade of the electronics and control systems, for a modern touch interface with teleservice and the option of software integrations.

The path

From survey to restart

Assessment

We examine your needs and the machine to establish whether retrofitting is the right choice. If it is not, we tell you.

Scope and quotation

We define the scope of work and the upgrades included, and provide a quotation.

The work

The machine is overhauled in our workshop, with the option of providing you with a replacement machine, or directly at your premises.

Testing and restart

Testing, fine-tuning on your own materials and support for your operators when production restarts.

The result

Machines that have left our workshop

Sanding and calibrating machines overhauled, restored to full efficiency and ready to go back into production.

Frequently asked questions

Retrofitting: frequently asked questions

Does a retrofit have to be complete?

No. We can work only on the parts that need it, for example the electrical system or a single unit. The scope is defined together, after the inspection.

How does the cost compare with a new machine?

The investment is significantly lower than a new machine of equivalent performance, but it varies considerably with the starting condition and the upgrades requested. This is why the quotation always follows a real inspection of the machine, never precedes it.

Can you upgrade the electronics while keeping the existing mechanics?

Yes. It is a common project on machines that are mechanically sound but carry obsolete or unobtainable electronic components: the panel, wiring and control system are replaced while the mechanical parts that are still working well are left in place.

Does retrofitting include updating the safety devices?

Inspection and restoration of the safety devices are part of the work.

Is your machine worth retrofitting?

Tell us the model, the year and its current condition: we will tell you frankly whether the work makes sense.

    Need support? Let's talk.

Tell us what is happening: model, serial number and the problem you are seeing. In most cases we can point you in the right direction on the first call.
